We’re seeking a qualified animator to join our creative game art team.  This mid level position reports to the Art Manager and day to day work is directed by the game art team lead.

As an Animator, your primary responsibility will be creating animations for Backflip’s various games.  You need to have advanced skills on all of the fundamentals of animation and rigging. You will also need to be able to create animations that fit within the vision of the game and restrictions that exist per project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating high quality animations for use in our mobile games
  • Rigging and skinning assets according to constraints
  • Implementing finished animation into Unity
  • Understanding and working within the character pipeline
  • Troubleshooting and fixing animation bugs or issues


  • 3 years of game animation experience
  • Professional  experience with animation, rigging, and skinning in Maya
  • Ability to create memorable keyframe animation
  • Understanding of game animation practices, and the creative constraints of the mobile platform
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, and human and creature motion
  • Willingness to give and receive critique on your work, and the work of your team
  • Ability to follow direction, and to grow and prosper creatively
  • Self-motivated, with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Unity and Mecanim a plus
